8 December 2024: Ready for Christmas
Thanks to some careful planning, our Sunday Special and our traditional service ended at the same time today. The idea was that the children from Sunday Special should decorate the Christmas tree standing just inside the sanctuary in the main part of the church. There was a delay while we waited for the old part of the building to be largely vacated. This is where the traditional services take place. Usually roughly half the congregation go into the hall for coffee and the rest make their way home.
Some of the Sunday Special leaders and parents went with the children to help them put baubles on the tree. Unfortunately not all the baubles remained on the tree. A few fell down, one or two breaking as they hit the floor. When I went to look at the tree after socialising with people over the refreshments, I found one of the dads lying under the tree scooping up the debris.
The picture shows the final result. The tree will now remain in the church until Epiphany.
